WHERE ARE YOU GOING AND WHAT IS...

The Plan

Helicopter tour

The helicopter takes off from Ilulissat Airport, and flies as low as the safety and protection regulations allow over snow-capped mountains, frozen lakes and Kangia Icefjord. We land on the mountain, at the edge of the ice sheet – in the middle of the protected UNESCO area.

2 Hour Dogsledding

Meet Greenland’s Living Heritage – Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Greenland as you bond with the extraordinary Greenlandic dogs. These remarkable creatures have been companions to the Inuit people for generations, embodying resilience, strength, and an unwavering connection to this land.

Sermermiut Walk on your own

This hike is a MUST DO for every guest visiting Ilulissat. You will experience one of the planets most beautiful places. Walk through the Sermermiut Valley (UNESCO) where you will see the remains of the old settlements and further to the viewpoint – the amazing icebergs will take your breath away!

From Ilulissat - Hiking, museum and sailing Adventure

At Sermermiut there is a couple of different hikes. The longest it approximately 6 hours, but will take you through the beautiful area of Ilulissat. If you prefer less walking you can choose some of the smaller hikes approximately a couple of hours.

While going to Sermermiut we would also recommend you to visit the award-winning museum—Ilulissat Icefiord Museum. From the top of the roof you can enjoy the spectacular view of the icebergs. At the museum you can learn a lot more about the current climate and its effect on Greenland. Learn about the wildlife under sea and most important learn about ice and what is under the surface of the Greenlandic Icecap.

For the last hours of the day you will embark on of the local ships and be taken for a great tour among the icebergs of the impressive Ilulissat Icefiord—the glacier is called Sermeq Kujalleq, one of the few glaciers through which the Greenland ice cap reaches the sea. Sermeq Kujalleq is one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world. It annually calves over 35 km3 of ice, i.e. 10% of the production of all Greenland calf ice and more than any other glacier outside Antarctica. Studied for over 250 years, it has helped to develop our understanding of climate change and icecap glaciology. The combination of a huge ice-sheet and the dramatic sounds of a fast-moving glacial ice-stream calving into a fjord covered by icebergs makes for a dramatic and awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. Duration of the tour is 2Hours and we recommend for you to bring warm clothing as it is cold in February, but the ice put another layer to the cold.
